Meet Pastor Gail Doering

Meet Rev. Gail Doering

Gail was born and raised on a farm in Kansas.  She attended Kansas State University then transferred to San Jose State University from where she graduated in 1983 with a B.A. in History.

Her first profession was in the high technology industry as a manager.  In 1989 she met and married her husband, David.  She has two daughters, Allison, 16, and Shannon, 14.

While the family was attending the Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale, Gail answered the call to professional ministry.  With two small children, a full-time job and an active life, she entered seminary part-time at Fuller Theological extension campus.  After a year and a half she enrolled at San Francisco Theological Seminary where she received her M.Div. in 2001.

Upon graduation, she worked as a pastoral assistant and interim Christian Education/Youth Director at First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto.  Gail was ordained to her first call as Associate Pastor for Children, Youth and Family Ministries at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church in February 2002.  She transitioned to Associate Pastor for Congregational Care in 2003 and served the church until 2006.  She then served as Interim Associate Pastor at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Hill.

Gail feels that her move to Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church is the answer to years of prayer and the culmination of all of her volunteer and professional ministry experiences.  She is eager to know us and be in ministry with us.  Gail's first Sunday in the pulpit was October 21, 2007.
