Meet Dianne Werner - Church Secretary Meet Gail

Meet Organist  Dale Scovill

Dale Scovill began his music studies at age 5, with piano lessons. At age 13 he had the usual desires of any 13 year old and wanted to stop taking lessons. His parents peaked his curiosity with the purchase of an organ and a few months later he began his career in church music, serving as an organist in his first church. He has served almost continuously for 43 years as a church organist and/or choir director.

Dale is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, with major emphases in organ and choral music. His studies there also included classes in Old and New Testament Studies and Church Music.

He has attended two summer sessions in Church Music Studies at Pacific School of Religion which included classes with Brian Wren and Dan Damon. He has participated in numerous choral music seminars, including the annual Church Choir Director's Conference at Zephyr Point. This year Dale will be presenting a class "Introduction to Handbells" at that conference.

Dale has a special interest in handbells and both rings and directs handbells. He has recently been a member of the Canto Bello Handbell Ensemble and in July of 2003, participated with them in a mission to Sarajevo, Bosnia.
