God's Moment Times One Million
By Eda Goff

People who have known me for awhile notice that in the spring I wear a Cardinals Jersey to church on a lot of Sunday mornings. This is because for the last six years I have had the privilege of playing baseball with the Clayton Valley Challenger League. These children, of all different ages, are in varying degrees challenged either mentally or physically. But one thing we all have in common is our love for the game of baseball.
I can not tell you how blessed these children and their parents are and how much joy they bring to me. Both Ami and Nick help as often as they can and we all look forward to the time we can spend with these kids. All it takes is one smile from any of them and you find yourself caught up in their excitement. Hits and runs don't matter and aren't even counted, but, smiles and high fives are.
On each child's face is the face of God. Innocent, anticipating, undemanding, forgiving and loving. Jennifer knows that if a ball comes straight at her I'm there to protect her from injury. If Tyler slips and starts to fall while running to first base, I'll be there before he hits the ground. And, all of the Cardinals know that when they hit the ball I'll be at first base with my arms open wide for a big hug and high five when they get there. Some kids need more help then others but the rewards are all the same.
If this doesn't sound enough like a God's moment to you I invite you to join me some Sunday. If you don't come with your own smile one will be given to you by any number of people. Amen
